Members of the office recently enjoyed a trip to a Passivhaus in Emsworth, Hampshire by Ruth Butler Architects as part of the Passivhaus 2022 Open Day events.

Constructed using cross laminated timber construction, the contemporary house sits on a former site of a St Johns Ambulance garage and reuses elements of most of the former buildings such as the steel beams and using bricks for hardcore.

The design achieves Passivhaus standards and has resulted in a 34% improvement in calculated performance.
