Sara Waterfield RIBA

Director

Sara joined Lytle Associates in 1994 and is now a director, specialising in the education sector.

Sara studied at the University of Sheffield, achieving a distinction for her Diploma thesis on college design which led on to a career designing education buildings from kindergartens and pre-schools through to sixth form and university projects.

Sara’s forte and passion is for educational school masterplanning – bringing together all her practical experience of school design, knowledge of the myriad of guidance and standards with a rapport with each school, its staff and its pupils to develop a bespoke school masterplan which is both inspiring and achievable. She enjoys the challenges of working with schools to help them realise their long term vision – helping to craft grant applications and considering the minutiae of phasing necessary to develop buildings in a working school campus.

Her interest in education extends to mentoring many of the architectural students within the practice, giving careers talks at local schools and her work as a governor at a large Guildford primary school.

Sara is a regular theatre goer and is passionate about her annual trips to the Isles of Scilly.
