GUILDFORD COUNTY SCHOOL ART BLOCK

Lytle Associates worked with the school to design a masterplan for the whole school campus which then formed the basis for their application to the Government’s Academy Capital Maintenance Funding Programme.

We worked closely with the school to assist with the bid and ensure proposals were viable and achievable.

The £1.5m bid was successful and the school were allocated funding for phase one to create a new art block; refurbish the sixth form provision and increase the number of music practice rooms available to students; as well as enhance the design and technology provision.

The art block is a steel framed building with timber cladding. Due to planning constraints the building sits low within the site.

A clay studio, workshop, digital studio and dark room have been provided along with a new kiln and two classrooms.

Following the release of the old art studios, within the school a new sixth form centre had been provided along with refurbished design and technology workshops and science classsrooms .
