This scheme consists of 2 detached new-build homes located in central Guildford, Surrey. The generous size of the existing site allowed our client to cleverly sub-divide it into two properties, replacing a tired existing single storey bungalow, with two 3-storey detached houses, while maintaining a key focus to tie the overall volumes and ridge heights in with the surrounding fabric. Setting the houses back from the street frontage allowed for the necessary parking space to be located at the front of the house, while providing generous gardens to the rear. Traditional materials in facing brick and stone were chosen so as to blend in with the surrounding neighbouring buildings, while introducing a modern approach to the architectural language. The build method was chosen to be in timber frame, allowing for an efficient and cost effective construction process. Completed in March 2018.
