NIGHTINGALE ROAD
Gerry Lytle Associates were approached by chalk hill to investigate options for a residential unit on a tight site in Nightingale Road adjacent to the railway line and London Road station. The site was originally occupied by a large, 1970s detached house of undistinguished design. Planning approval took 12 months due to the contemporary nature of the scheme and was granted on appeal after an initial refusal.
The proposal houses 8 high quality apartments which meet level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Solar panels are provided on the flat roof and a lightweight highly insulated timber frame construction clad in Siberian larch will weather over time creating a varied façade.
