Lytle Associates Architects has a long-running working partnership with the University of Surrey dating back to 1987. We carry out projects at all levels from a £4m programme of refurbishment to two large academic blocks to an £8k contract to adapt a toilet in the Performing Arts studio.
We have excellent working relationships with the university estates team, the other consultants and contractors and provide ongoing support and advice on a range of estates issues, often long before we are given a formal appointment.
Examples of ongoing and recently completed contracts are given below:
Library Refurbishment (£2.5m) – Refurbishment of existing library to include expanded archive area with new racking system, new rainscreen cladding, part reroofing and refenestration. To be carried out in phases to allow the library facility to remain open throughout.
Lecture Block refurbishment (£3.5m) – Phased refurbishment of existing lecture block carefully planned and sequenced to keep the building in use throughout. Upgrading and redecoration of lecture theatres, rationalised circulation spaces, upgrading toilets, external windows and doors, reroofing and replacement roof glazing.
Physics Laboratory, Optical Laser Laboratory and Concrete Testing Laboratory (£0.5m). Mechatronics Laboratory and Enflo offices (£0.5m). Surrey International Study Centre- SISC (£0.5m).
