Opening in 1932 and regarded as a popular venue to Guildford residents and its many visitors, the heart of the new Lido will be two sweeping timber canopies interspersed with a series of pitched tile clad cupolas. These raised sections of roof are designed to bring natural light and ventilation into the changing spaces. New cubicles containing private changing rooms, family rooms, showering and toilets are then arrayed beneath the canopy, painted in a series of different colours to clearly identify the various uses, and create a bright, welcoming space.
