Planning permission achieved

We are delighted to have achieved planning permission for an extension and alterations to the JCS Performing Arts building at Tormead School.

Music and drama are both strong departments in the school and were identified in our long term masterplan as priorities for development.

Our approved scheme enlarges the auditorium, more than doubling audience capacity to allow for large scale productions in this dedicated theatre space. It transforms the backstage areas to create a professional theatre layout including a scene dock, costume store and green room areas, significantly improving resources for students studying drama at GCSE and A Level. A new dedicated box office and bar area will enable students to get involved in front of house operations.  There will be a new music ensemble room for small groups as well as three other practice rooms plus secure ground floor storage for the department and students’ musical instruments.

We’re looking forward to bringing this scheme to life for the school.
