Planning approval for redevelopment of South Hatch Stables in Epsom

Lytle Associates Architects are part of the design team that has recently achieved planning permission for the exciting redevelopment of South Hatch Stables in Epsom!
A short distance from the racecourse. The existing yard has been a key part of Epsom’s horseracing industry, seeing over 170 years of continuous horseracing. The scheme will ensure this long history continues with the provision of a state-of-the-art racehorse training establishment (RTE) and an enabling residential development of 46 apartments.
The project was the result of a thorough and extensive design process including stakeholder engagement and a public consultation event.
The key concepts responded to the site’s rural Green Belt setting. The layout has been designed to concentrate development on areas of previously developed land, the retention of a central band of trees and strengthening of boundary planting provides valuable green buffers and the design and appearance of the new buildings draw reference from typical rural forms, materials and window arrangements.
