Celebrating ‘Women in Construction’

Introducing Emma Young, an Architectural Technologist at Lytle Associates

‘I’ve been an architectural technologist for over 20 years and have loved the varied projects I’ve been involved in and the clients and colleagues I’ve worked alongside. I particularly enjoy the detailed technical work, especially on historic buildings and heritage projects’.

Emma’s interest in the building industry and design started at a young age. Her dad owned a successful building contractors and she was immersed in ‘all things building’ as she grew up.

At school, Emma was particularly interested in graphic design and technology and this eventually led to A levels in these subjects. She then decided to do a BA in Architectural Technology at Solent University (formerly the Southampton Institute).

Following her degree, Emma secured a job at a practice in Winchester, working on high end residential projects. Her particular specialism is Arts & Crafts buildings.  After a few years, Emma then moved to a practice in Godalming, before joining us in 2023. She works 4 days a week to enable her to balance her career with a busy family life.
